B is for Triple Bottom Line, people, planet and profit

People Planet and Profit B Corp, is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee. In November Fast Company named the B Corp movement one of 20 moments that moved the world forward in the last 20 Years.

B Corp has developed standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Today, there is a growing community of more than 1,400 companies from 42 countries that have gained certification as B Corps, house-hold names such as Ben and Jerry’s and Patagonia have also joined the B Corp family

Unilever’s Paul Polman supports the B Corp movement. In a message delivered at the launch of B Lab UK , Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever, announced that Unilever will participate in the Multinationals and Public Markets (MPM) Advisory Council of B Corp.

A further high-profile initiative led by established global business leaders is Plan B for Business which was launched in June 2013 by Sir Richard Branson and Jochen Zeitz working together with 14 other leaders from major corporations around the world, such as Unilever, Natura, Celtel, Tata and Kering. Plan B aims to demonstrate that long-term business success can be built only by prioritising people and planet alongside profit.
